Carlos Lezcano - Manager |
|
Carlos is in his 16th season as a minor league manager and his second with Lake Elsinore. Last season, Lezcano led the Storm to the California League Championship Series, finishing the regular season with a 74-65 overall record. Prior to becoming the eighth manager in Storm history, Lezcano served as manager of San Diego's Rookie-level affiliate for the 2003-06 seasons, guiding the Peoria Padres to a 36-19 (.655) mark and the Arizona League Championship in 2006. For his efforts, he was honored with the 2006 Jack Krol Award for his contributions to player development.
Lezcano was signed by the Chicago Cubs in 1977 and appeared in 49 games for the Cubs during the 1980-81 seasons. |

Shane Spencer - Hitting Coach |
|
Shane Spencer makes his minor league coaching debut with the Lake Elsinore Storm.
Primarily an outfielder, he was selected in the 28th-round by the Yankees in the 1990 June Free Agent Draft. Spencer played in seven Major League seasons with the Yankees (1998-2002), Cleveland Indians (2003), Texas Rangers (2003) and New York Mets (2004). He also compiled a .262 career average (438-for-1671) with 84 doubles, 59 home runs, 242 RBI and 208 runs scored in 538 Major League games. He was a member of three World Series Championship teams with the Yankees from 1998-2000. Following his Major League career, Spencer played two seasons with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan (2005-06). |

Wally Whitehurst - Pitching Coach |

Wally Whitehurst is in his fifth season as a pitching coach within the Padre's organization and his first with the Storm. Whitehurst spent last season at Fort Wayne prior to stops at Short-A Eugene ('05-'06) and Rookie-level Peoria ('04).
Origionally selected by Oakland in the '85 MLB Draft (third round pick). In 163 Major League games, Whitehurst posted a 20-37 record with three saves and a 4.02 ERA over parts of seven seasons with the Mets ('89-'92), Padres ('93-'94) and Yankees ('96). The 43-year old worked as a sports agent from '01-'02 after serving as a pitching coach for the University of New Orleans from '98-'01. White hurst makes his off-season home in Shreveport, LA.

Will Sinon
Athletic Trainer |

Will Sinon is in his second season as Lake Elsinore's athletic trainer and his 11th overall as an athletic trainer in San Diego's system. He spent the 2006 season as athletic trainer at Triple-A Portland after serving in the same capacity for the Padres Double-A Mobile affiliate from 2003-05, earning Southern League Trainer of the Year honors in 2003.
Will, his wife Amy and their two children reside in Ladera Ranch, CA. |
