'08 Storm STAFF
The Lake Elsinore Storm will begin their 15th season and their 8th as a San Diego Padres affiliate.  The Storm earned their 1,000th win in franchise history last season, on their way to a 74-65 overall record and a trip to the California League Finals for the fourth time in seven seasons.  The Storm welcome back manager Carlos Lezcano in 2008, whose staff will include pitching coach Wally Whitehurst and hitting coach Shane Spencer.  Whitehurst spent the last four seasons in the Padres organization at Single-A Ft. Wayne.  Spencer will make his coaching debut with the Storm.  Also, trainer Will Sinon returns for his second season in Lake Elsinore and his 11th in the Padres organization.

The Storm will kickoff the season April 3rd with an Opening Night Extravaganza including your first look at the 2008 squad, the return of Thirsty Thursdays and plenty of great surprises.  Also, join us at The Diamond April 18th-20th for Going Green Weekend building on last years event which featured Thunder’s tips for helping the environment as well as a health and sustainability festival.  Looking ahead, make your plans to head down to Petco Park on Wednesday, August 27th when the Storm will once again play a doubleheader with their major league affiliate, the San Diego Padres.

ALUMNI NEWS
At the 2007 San Diego Padres Annual Awards Dinner, four former Storm were recognized for their accomplishments this past season.  Chase Headley (2006 Storm 3B) was named the Padres Minor League Player of the Year and Josh Geer (2006 Storm P) was selected as the Padres Minor League Pitcher of the Year.  Additionally, Khalil Greene (2002 Storm SS) was honored as the Padres Most Valuable Player and Jake Peavy (2001 Storm P) was presented the Padres Pitcher of the Year Award.
